2 Post-Doc positions for Nano-diagnostics

Highly motivated and talented candidates with backgrounds in nanobiotechnology, nanomedicine, nanotechnology, nanochemistry, clinical diagnostics, biochemistry, bioengineering or related areas are invited to apply for the advertised positions.

The project objective is to develop novel low-cost rapid biosensors and devices for applications in point-of-care clinical diagnostics and on-field environmental monitoring, using nanoparticles and functional biomolecules such as antibody, enzymes, DNAzymes/ribozymes and aptamers.

Applicants are expected to have hands-on experience in surface modification of nanoparticles and their characterization, as well as their application to optical or rapid-kit-type detection of biomolecules or diagnostics of biomarkers.

Additional experience in microbiology will be a plus but not mandatory.

Highly motivated and talented candidates with backgrounds in nanobiotechnology, biology, nanomedicine, nanotechnology, nanochemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering or related areas are invited to apply for the advertised positions.

The project objective is to develop protein nanoparticles for drug-delivery. These nanoparticles should exhibit highly controlled physical/chemical properties (eg. monodispersion and size tunability) and smart features (either active or passive) in delivering conventional drugs or small molecules with antioxidant properties. Bio-conjugation with functional biomolecules and in vitro cell studies will be performed.

Applicants are expected to have hands-on experience in  synthesis of protein nanoparticles and their characterization, as well as their application to drug-delivery.

Experience in cell cultures is desired.

Technician position on front-end and back-end technologies

IIT (www.iit.it) invites qualified senior applicants to submit their CVs for a technician position to support development of micro and nanotechnologies applied to electronics, photonics and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) at the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies (CBN), located in Arnesano (Lecce).

Your profile: candidates have a wide experience, at least 5 years, supported by a documented and proved track record in the development of micro and nanotechnologies for photonics and microelectromechanics for applications in bioinspired and/or nanobio-related technologies. Background on mantainance and usage of micro and nanofabrication equipment is required.

A background in Materials Science, Bioengineering or a related field is mandatory.

International experience and communication skills are required. Additional experience in operation of high resolution nanotechnologies and tools such as nanolithographies and nanomachining will be considered a plus.

The successful candidate will support the experimental activities on the development of the technological protocols for the fabrication of the devices and nanostructures, will support in realizing prototypes and will be involved in the device characterization, will take care of the ordinary and corrective maintenance for the instrumentation and facilities and of the training of the infrastructure users.

Responsibilities of the technician will also include:

-Advising on and assisting in the selection, purchase, installation and commissioning of new equipment.

-Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate training.

-Management of technology transfer issues and equipment maintenance.

The technical activities will take place at CBN, Arnesano (Lecce).

Post Doc Nanomaterials for Photoelectrochemical Systems

IIT's research endeavor focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible applications from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies.

IIT center in Lecce carries out a multifaceted program of strategic research activities relating to solar energy conversion systems. The programme address a wide range of scientific and technological goals, spanning from the understanding of physical phenomena underlying energy conversion and storage processes to the development of high-performance devices based on innovative nanoscale materials.

The successful applicant for this position will work on the development of multifunctional photoelectrochemical systems for solar energy conversion and storage. She/he will be involved in the implementation of novel nanostructured materials, the characterization of their optoelectronic and electrochemical properties and the design of novel device architectures.

He/she will plan and carry out his/her experimental work in the framework of a national R&D program aimed at creating a technological platform for industrial research based on molecular nanotechnologies for the development of innovative systems for the next generation of building-integrated solar energy conversion technologies.

The final target is the fabrication of semitransparent smart windows in which energy production and storage, illumination and dynamic solar control are conveniently combined.
