Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT – was established in 2005 and successfully created a large scale infrastructure in Genova, a network of 10 state-of-the-art laboratories countrywide and recruited an international staff of about 1000 people from more than 30 countries.
IIT's research endeavor focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible applications from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies.
IIT center in Lecce carries out a multifaceted program of strategic research activities relating to solar energy conversion systems. The programme address a wide range of scientific and technological goals, spanning from the understanding of physical phenomena underlying energy conversion and storage processes to the development of high-performance devices based on innovative nanoscale materials.
The successful applicant for this position will work on the development of multifunctional photoelectrochemical systems for solar energy conversion and storage. She/he will be involved in the implementation of novel nanostructured materials, the characterization of their optoelectronic and electrochemical properties and the design of novel device architectures.
He/she will plan and carry out his/her experimental work in the framework of a national R&D program aimed at creating a technological platform for industrial research based on molecular nanotechnologies for the development of innovative systems for the next generation of building-integrated solar energy conversion technologies.
The final target is the fabrication of semitransparent smart windows in which energy production and storage, illumination and dynamic solar control are conveniently combined.
She/he will operate at the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies in Lecce, in a world-class laboratory equipped with a wide spectrum of fabrication and characterization facilities devoted to the realization of photelectrochemical devices as well as to their photophysical and electrochemical characterization.
Good team-working skills in an international environment as well as excellent capability to discuss and communicate results in English are essential prerequisites. Travelling abroad will be part of the research work and could include some period of time spent in a different city/country.
The candidate should be highly motivated, strive to achieve the best results and contribute to the advancement of his/her team research program.
The successful candidate for this post-doc position has a good background in disciplines such as Materials Science, Electrochemistry and/or Nanotechnologies.
