Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT – was established in 2005 and successfully created a large-scale infrastructure in Genova, a network of 10 state-of-the-art laboratories countrywide, recruited an international staff of about 1000 people from more than 30 countries.
IIT's research endeavor focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies.
IIT is currently seeking brilliant and highly motivated applicants for a post doc appointment to join its Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies in Lecce.
Plasmonic systems have the unique ability to localize electromagnetic radiation at visible frequencies well below the diffraction and generate local field enhancement hundred times the incident radiation. These properties make plasmonic structures valuable candidates for achieving enhanced light-matter interactions, strong nonlinear and quantum effects, thus leading to exotic new functionalities. A growing number of theoretical research activities involving plasmonic nanostructures is being carried out at the IIT Center in Lecce.
The ideal candidate has a solid background in electromagnetics and nanophotonics. A consolidated experience in numerical simulations of electromagnetic systems involving different methods (FDTD or FEM) and/or software packages (e.g. COMSOL) with particular emphasis on multi-physics integration is strongly preferred.
Good team-working skills in an international environment as well as excellent capability to discuss and communicate results in English are essential prerequisites. Travelling abroad will be part of the research work and could include some period of time spent in a different city/country. The candidate should be particularly motivated, strive to achieve the best results and contribute to the advancement of his/her team’s research program.
The successful candidate for this post-doc position has a good background in disciplines such as Physics, Materials Science, Electromagnetism, Photonics.
