About

Muhammad Khalid received his doctoral degree in June, 2016 from the Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, “La Sapienza” University of Rome. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees both from the Department of Electronics, Quaid-I-Azam University Islamabad (Pakistan), respectively in 2009 and 2012. He served as a visiting faculty member in the same department from February 2011 to June 2012. Afterward, he joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Sahiwal (Pakistan), as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. In 2012, he was awarded a full-time PhD fellowship for international students by “La Sapienza” University of Rome. He was the winner of the Young Scientist Award at the International URSI General Assembly and Symposium in Beijing (China) in 2014. He was awarded the same prize for the second time at 2016 URSI International Symposium of Electromagnetic Theory in Helsinki (Finland). He was also able to receive one of the few funding opportunities reserved for PhD and post-doctoral students in the “La Sapienza” University. His PhD research was focused mainly on Metamaterial realization of electromagnetic boundary conditions and wave propagation in a more general electric-magnetic uniaxial lossy medium with an arbitrarily-oriented optic axis. Presently, he is working on the development of novel theoretical methods and efficient simulation techniques to investigate optical properties of plamonic nanostructures.
