Post-Doc Position – Computational Nanoplasmonics - [ Postdoc ]

Added on: 26/05/2017 - Expires on 16/07/2017

IIT is currently seeking brilliant and highly motivated applicants to join the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies in Lecce for a two-year postdoc appointment.

A growing number of theoretical research activities involving plasmonic nanostructures is being carried out at the IIT center in Lecce. Plasmonic systems have the unique ability to localize electromagnetic radiation at visible frequencies well below the diffraction and generate local field enhancement hundred times the incident radiation. These properties make plasmonic structures valuable candidates for achieving enhanced light-matter interactions, strong nonlinear and quantum effects, thus leading to exotic new functionalities.

The candidate must have a solid theoretical background in solid-stated physics and electromagnetics. An extend experience in numerical simulations of electromagnetic systems involving different methods (FDTD or FEM) and/or software packages (e.g. COMSOL) with particular emphasis on multi-physics integration is highly desired.

Good team-working skills in an international environment as well as excellent capability to discuss and communicate results in English are essential prerequisites. Travelling abroad will be part of the research work and could include some period of time spent in a different city/country. The candidate should be highly motivated, strive to achieve best results and contribute to the advancement of his/her research team program.

The successful candidate for this post-doc position should hold a good background in disciplines such as Physics, Materials Science, Electromagnetism, Photonics.

The application should include a CV with a list of key publications and names and contact of 2 referees, to be sent to

We strongly encourage candidates to apply by July 16, 2017, however applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
