About

Carlo Giansante is dealing with the surface chemistry of semiconductor and metal colloidal nanocrystals and its impact on the optoelectronic properties and on the non-covalent bonding interactions with surrounding chemical species, towards effective photovoltaic and photonic applications. He's also studying quantum dots and organic fluorophores under the strong light-matter coupling regime.

Carlo received a laurea (cum laude) in Chemistry at the University of Bologna in 2004. He got a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the same institution in 2008 working on the photophysical and electrochemical properties arising in supramolecular systems. In the same period he spent six month at the University of California in Santa Barbara studying the non-linear optical properties of semiconductor polymers and polyelectrolytes. In 2009 he moved to the University of Bordeaux to investigate the photophysics of small molecule self-assemblies at the single nanostructure level.
