The Chemistry Lab is equipped with various instruments for the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials. The TEM Lab - Transmission Electron Microscope is equipped with the JEOL JEM-1011.

Zetasizer Nano ZSP (DLS - dynamic light scattering and z-potential)

The Zetasizer Nano ZSP is the world’s highest performance system and particularly suitable for the characterization of proteins and nanoparticles where the highest sensitivity for size and zeta potential measurement is required. It includes a Protein Measurement option for protein mobility measurements. The measured parameters are particle and molecule size, translational diffusion, electrophoretic mobility, zeta potential of particles at high and low concentrations, viscosity and viscoelasticity of protein and polymer solutions, concentration.

NanoDrop™ OneC Microvolume UV-Vis Spectrophotometer with Wi-Fi

The NanoDrop OneC UV-vis spectrometer measures the concentration and purity of DNA, RNA or protein samples. Using only 1 µL, you can obtain your results in less than 15 seconds from sample pipetting to wiping the pedestal clean.

Centrifuge Allegra X-15

The centrifuge Allegra X-15 is able to process up to 148 tubes per cycle, this centrifuge delivers cost-effective versatility and maximum performance for blood, body fluids, and cell/tissue culture processing. The X-15R spins up to three liters of sample at an industry-leading 5,250 x g, with a robust refrigeration system that cools from ambient to 4C in less than 4 minutes – over 10 minutes faster than other three liter centrifuges. The centrifuge applications include:
  • • Routine processing such as sample preparations, pelleting, extractions, purifications, concentrations, phase separations, receptor binding, and column centrifugations.
  • • Cell isolation.
  • • Binding studies and separation of whole blood.
  • • Processing large numbers of small-volume samples in multiwell plates for concentrating tissue-culture cells, cloning and replicate studies, in-vitro cytotoxicity studies, receptor binding, and genetic engineering experimentation.
  • • Rapid sedimentation of protein precipitates, large particles, and cell debris.

Liquid Handling Workstations: epMotion® 5070

With 4 worktable positions it is a compact solution for accurate and reproducible automated pipetting, making a perfect match for any routine application such as serial dilutions, reagent distribution, sample transfer from tubes to plates, and sample normalization.


The LABstar glove box workstation is a ready to operate high quality glovebox system that meets your specific application requirements. Standard features of this system include a stand, large main antechamber, a rotary vane vacuum pump and a PLC-M. Braun controller. The standard LABstar package comprises of a single column inert gas purification system that is fully automatic and regenerable. The glovebox maintains atmosphere levels of less than 1 ppm oxygen and moisture.

Transmission Electron Microscope JEOL JEM-1011

This TEM is highly Integrated compact Transmission Electron Microscope designed with importance attached to the original functions of the electron microscope and by effective use of JEOL's traditional electron microscope technology. In addition to its high performance and diverse functions, this instrument offers great ease of operation, allowing anybody to use it as a powerful research tool with confidence.
